2nd Annual Gift of Sight Luncheon - March 20, 2008
The Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin will host the 2nd Annual Gift of Sight, Gift of Life Luncheon on March 20, 2008 at the Marriott Madison West. Over 150 attendees celebrated National Eye Donation Month (March), as proclaimed by Governor Jim Doyle, and heard an inspiring keynote address by Coach Bret Bielema, Wisconsin Football, at the 2007 event. NBC15 and 93.1 The Lake will join forces again with Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin to promote the 2008 event. The Crystal Vision Award will honor two individuals, who have shown outstanding contributions in the field of eye, tissue, and organ donation. The Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin 1st Annual Gift of Sight, Gift of Life Luncheon took place on March 22, 2007 at the Marriott Madison West. Over 150 attendees celebrated National Eye Donation Month (March), as proclaimed by Governor Jim Doyle, and heard an inspiring keynote address by Bret Bielema, UW Madison Head Football Coach.
Emcee Sarah Carlson, NBC15, and David Butters, Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin Executive Director, welcomed the attendees. Bill Taubman, Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin Board President, presented the Crystal Vision Award to honor two individuals, Mary Nachreiner and Lisa Johnson, who have shown outstanding contributions in the field of eye, tissue, and organ donation.
Keynote speaker Bret Bielema, UW Madison Head Football Coach, told a heart-warming story about growing up on a farm in a small town in Illinois. He commended the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin, the Lions Transporters for their tireless diligence and shared with the audience that his own sister had given the Gift of Life, being an organ donor upon her passing.
